Help With Vertical Jump?

vertical jump increase

Ok, I have two problems:
1)Whenever I try to run before jump… it gives me NO advantage – as if I was running and then stopped and only then jumped. Could someone plz direct me to some instructions on how to jump after run-up, I need the whole technique.
2) How do I increase vertical jump? I’m training sprints, longjump and javelin throw, so that’s quite a lot of training, but my jump doesn’t seem to increase – any specific training? What should I concentrate on?

I’m 1.85 cm height and desperately want to dunk, and all I can do is just hang on the basket with one hand after my ‘best’ jump :(

What you are describing is not a lack of technique, but a lack of reactive strength. In otherwords, do some plyometric training. Your 6’1", so you vertical only needs to be around 34 inches to dunk, still is high, but with hard work it can be done. If you train in track, you also might want to consider adding a little muscle with squats, deadlifts, calf raises, power cleans, and hang snatch. Good luck
